I was so excited about my recent vacation. Three weeks in England, Wales and Ireland. It was a trip I'd dreamed about ever since I was in my teens, and I wanted to do as much - and see as much - as I could.

I knew I couldn't possibly see everything I wanted to in so short a time. But I was bound and determined to try.

Our first stop was London. One of the great cities of Europe. We spent two nights in London, and I studied the guidebooks while on the plane. Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Thames, and the Tower of London were just a few of the sights on my list. The plan was to get to the hotel, sleep a little to recover from the overnight flight, then hop a bus and start sight-seeing. Jet-lag? Not me. I was immune to it - or so I thought.

That's why I was so surprised when it hit me, just moments after we checked into the Holiday Inn in Brentford, not far from Heathrow Airport.

"I'll just curl up for an hour," I told myself, seeing my husband and kids doing the same. "Just long enough to re-set my body clock."

Four hours later, I awoke, feeling not refreshed, but still a little groggy. Instead of seeing London, all I felt like doing was sleeping!

So much for the Grand Plan to see London that day! We took a little walk around Brentford, then went back to the hotel for a light dinner, and back to bed!

Yes, Cynthia, there is jet-lag, and it hit me hard!

Luckily, the next day I was able to fight it off, and we set out for Waterloo Station and one perfect day of sight-seeing in London
